This forum brings together local community groups and voluntary organisations with an interest in community level services of all kinds. The discussions cover primarily local authority services and health services, but also include policing. There are currently 600 groups on the mailing list and the network meetings attract 70-80 people.

The Active Communities Team (ACT)

VAL’s Active Communities Team works to support 3 Neighbourhood Management projects in the city, which bring together local residents and key professionals to improve some of the city’s deprived neighbourhoods. These projects are currently taking place in Saffron, St. Matthews / St. Marks and New Parks. To get involved in Neighbourhood Management, please contact the Team.

The Active Communities Team also undertakes consultation in Leicester’s deprived communities, including extensive Planning for Real consultations events which enable hundreds of local people to have their say. You can download the Planning For Real Executive Summary at the bottom of this page.
