Leicester Compact

In Leicester Town Hall on the 24th January 2008 a Compact was signed between the local voluntary sector and the City Council. This agreement sets out the context for the future relationship and dealings between the parties. It sets out the principles, roles and responsibilities of the signatories to regulate the relationship for mutual benefit.

The Leicester Compact is based on the Government national compact with the community and voluntary sector. Whilst not intended to be a legally binding agreement it will have a significant influence on the way the City Council relates to local groups.

A steering group will implement the compact - overseeing the action plan and ensuring it is completed.
