Health and Well-Being

The Health and Well-Being network supports the Voluntary and Community Sector in working in Leicester City.

This network was created in Autumn 2008 as an emalgamation of the Children's & Young People's Services Forum, the Adult's Services Forum and their associated Networks.

It recognises the overlap in Adults and Children when considering communities; families; health inequalities; and the diversity of VCS projects within Leicester directly and indirectly delivering services in and around health and well-being. The network continues to highlight specific areas of interest in relation to policy development, so that groups can easily identify the information most important to them; while being able to easily access issues of broader relevance or intersest.

The City Council and NHS Leicester City (Primary Care Trust as was) provide these public services with a range of smaller public agencies and partners in the private, voluntary, community and indepentent sectors. Improving health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities in Leicester is the overall purpose of the Health and Well-being Partnership Board.

VAL provides a range of services to the voluntary and community sector in relation to health & well-being services in Leicester. Our purpose is to enable local groups and individuals to:

  • ensure the needs, voices and issues for individuals and the VCS are part of the planning and development processes.
  • Influence service design and delivery.
  • Deliver high quality services in Leicester.

Health and Well-Being Services at VAL act as a bridge between the VCS, the wider community and public sector bodies, by enabling partnership working and facilitating or undertaking research or consultation exercises.
